The Long-Awaited Promise of a Programmable Quantum Computer

Quantum Computer

Controlling Quantum Particles – Run Quantum Procedure

One of the great challenges of the 21st century physics is the quest to build aninfluential quantum computer and though the obstacles seem significant, physicists have been chasing them down, one after the other. They have steadily learned in controlling quantum particles with the precision needed to run quantum procedure on a small scale with a few qubits.

The big test is now scale, combining these techniques in which they can manage large number of qubits and perform powerful quantum calculations. Recently Shantanu Debnath together with his pals at the University of Maryland in College Park unveiled a five qubit quantum computer module which can be programmed for any quantum procedure.

However, significantly, it is said that this module could be connected to others for the performance of powerful quantum computations concerning huge numbers of qubits. Debnath and his pals state that `this small quantum computer could be scaled to larger numbers of qubits in a single module and can further be expanded by linking several modules’. For nearly 20 years, physicists have been capable of running quantum procedures on quantum computers and the first two and three qubit machines had begun number crunching towards late 1990s.

Quantum Processes – Series of Logic Operations

However, since then, the progress had been stalled due to the dangerous difficulties in connecting large numbers of quantum particles together while maintaining their quantum states. The new device is built on the extensive work over the last two decades on trapped ion quantum computers which comprises of five ytterbium ions lined up and trapped in an electromagnetic field.

The electronic state of individual ion is controlled by annihilating it with a laser which enables each ion to store some of the quantum information. Since they are charged, the ion exercises force on each other causing them to vibrate at frequencies which can be accurately controlled and manipulated.

These vibrations tend to be quantum in nature enabling the ions to get entangled and in this way, the quantum bits they tend to hold can then interact. Physicist tends to carry out quantum logic operations by controlling these interactions. The quantum processes are a series of these logic operations which following one after the other.

Performing Arbitrary Series of Operation Essential

The capability of performing an arbitrary series of operation is essential. Few of the quantum computers seem to be capable of doing this and most of them have been designed to perform a particular single quantum process, which is what Debnath and his pals intend to change.

The researchers have built a self-contained module which has the potential of addressing individual ions with a laser and read out the results of the interactions between qubits which seems to work well. The team has put the device through its speeds by applying various different quantum procedures. They have stated that `as examples, they had implemented the Deutsch-Jozsa, Bernstein-Vazirani and quantum Fourier transforms procedure.

The procedures presented here demonstrate the computational flexibility delivered by the ion trap quantum architecture’.Though it is impressive, the team claims that it can go still further and in particular, they state that their module is scalable and several five qubit modules could be linked together in forming a more powerful quantum computer.

The World's Most Powerful Supercomputer

Tianhe-2

Tianhe-2 Supercomputer of China – World’s Most Powerful System

According to a biannual Top500 list of supercomputers, Tianhe-2 supercomputer of China has maintained its place as the most powerful system in the world for the sixth consecutive time. The Top500 list is considered to be one of the most authoritative rankings of the world’s supercomputers and has been compiled on the basis of the performance of the machines on the Linpack benchmark by experts from Germany and the US.

Tiahne-2 also known as the Milky Way-2 having a performance of 33.86 petaflops per second –Pflop/s had been invented by China’s National University of Defence Technology and organized at the National Supercomputer Centre in Guangzhou. It has held the title since June 2013.

According to the official media report, the Chinese system is said to be around twice as fast as the next on the list, Titan of the US Department of Energy that has a performance of 17.59 Pflop/s. In the latest edition of the closely watched list, no changes have come up regarding the ranking of the world’s top 5 supercomputers since June 2013.

China – Great Leap to 109 Systems

As per professor of the University of Tennessee and editor of the report, Jack Dongarra stated in an email to state-run Xinhua news agency that the top five computers are very expensive and powerful and it would take another year before a new system tends to enter the top five. From July 2015’s list some of the substantial changes to this list is the sharp decline in the number of systems in the US now at 201. It has been reported that in July, this is down from 231 and seems to be the lowest number of systems that have been connected in the US since the list had begun in 1993.

In comparison, China had made a great leap to 109 systems. Dongarra had stated that China received a big enhancement from Sugon, Lenovo and Inspur. The large number of submissions had come from Sugon. As per the Top500 statement, Sugon had outdone IBM in the system category with 49 systems and Lenovo that had acquired IBM’s x86 server business last year had 25 systems in the list, up from three systems on the list of July 2015. Besides this, some systems which were earlier listed as IBM have now been labelled as IBM/Lenovo and Lenovo/IBM.

China Carving Bigger Share as Manufacturer

The third vendor from China, Inspur, now has about 15 systems on the list. The statement mentioned that China is carving out a bigger share as a manufacturer of great performance computer together with manifold Chinese manufacturers being very active in this arena.

Overall HP tends to lead the list with 156 systems followed by Cray with 69 systems with China’s Sugan with 49 systems. However, US intend to ultimately lead the world in supercomputer. Last fall IBM, had indicated that it would develop two new supercomputers named Summit and Sierra, for the Energy Department which would be still more powerful than China’s Tianhe-2 supercomputer but the same would not be ready till 2017.

President Obama had signed an executive order calling for the U.S. in July to develop the world’s most powerful supercomputer under the National Strategic Computing Initiative. The Energy Department as well as the National Science Foundation would be leading the push. There seems to be no deadline for the supercomputer’s completion though initiative members are expected to give yearly updates on its progress for the next five years.

Top 3 Dreadful Computer Security Threats

Security
In this world of technology, there is nothing which has been created without any kind of its own threat. Even we people have some things which are very dreadful and dangerous to our health. The main thing which is beneath that is if we people do not know what things are harmful to our health, then we wouldn’t able to avoid those dreadful things. And this phenomenon is also applied to each and every personal computer which has been produced. In this world, there are few things which are more extremely of great danger and that is reason behind that is we need to be careful with those things. In order to avoid those things, we people need to know each and everything about them and what they are.

In the world of computer we need to know about the following things;

Virus

Till now, the greatest dangers to the computers are the virus. These viruses are already available on each and everywhere and when they intruded on the personal computer, they may do lot of damage to the personal computer. These kinds of viruses are updated regularly based on the operating system updates so that, they can easily cope with the various threats that are posed by any anti-virus software. So, it is also necessary for us to have the anti-virus software updated and so we can avoid those kinds of threat which are posed by the anti-virus. It is strongly advised to use good anti-virus and never used to forget to update the anti-virus software.

Hackers

From the day when the computer has been invented, hackers are the major threat for the safety of the personal computer. The hackers use our personal computer to perform their different kinds of dirty work, and those that fall victim of their dirty tricks will always has a story to tell to other peoples. Most of the works done by the hackers are fun of producing and them so call viruses just to hurt other personal computer files and important documents. Although in some time, hacking sessions are seems to be very important. But those kinds are activities are used by the governmental activities and termed as White Hat Hacking. And most common hackers are only renowned for their evil things.

Unauthorized Users

Unauthorized users are considered as the major threat to the world of personal computing. The main reason behind that is they can able to destroy the important files which are found in your personal computer and which leads in loss of some important files in your personal computer. Since they are not the owner of our personal computer, they will create damage to the important things in our pc. It’s our duty to be careful of these kinds of people because they will harm our files as well as they bring anonymous changes to our personal computers.

If any other computer security threats are known by you, then share those threads with us through the comments below.

Intel Edison A Computer Of The Size Of An SD Card

Intel Edison
Intel has missed the turn of mobile computing, but wants to get ahead of those computers technology. They are advancing very rapidly in that direction with his family Quark processors.

The technology now requires new kinds of more efficient and more powerful smaller processors - that perfectly describe the X1000 Quark, presented last September by Intel. Their cores are five times smaller than the Atom processors and consume up to ten times less energy, while being as powerful as Pentium processors.

This kind of processors allows Intel to build a real computer with in an SD card. A computer named Edison, which thus contains a Quark dual-core processor, NAND storage and Wi -Fi and Bluetooth chips. Running GNU / Linux with a specific version of Wolfram, it can for example be used to control devices - think “Raspberry Pi “in much smaller. Edison, which will be offered to developers this summer, is one of the reference designs expected to demonstrate the possibilities of Quark platform.

It was obviously evokes an Intel shows connected and is the one of the star product of this CES 2014. Since the Intel wants completely independent it wish to do more soon. Equipped with its own network and GPS chips, it does not need to connect a Smartphone to notify the user of various events. It is not limited to connect to watches only and Intel has presented a strange headset which is its own independent project which is able to notify you of the delay of a participant in an appointment or to guide your steps in the search a restaurant.

In short, an "intelligent" assistant whispering in your ear, as Jarvis Iron Man which he also uses the name. Intel has also confirmed its “Dual OS " ad eclipsed by Intel's desire to rid all processors' raw materials of shame.” A laudable goal, Apple is also trying to achieve but still in progress.

Ode To The PC: Rage Against The Dying of Expensive Software and Virus Protection

The PC used to own the scene. People scoffed at cute, brightly colored Macs, and had no issue shelling out $75 a year to Norton AntiVirus and other such computer virus-fighting software. But the personal computer is on life support for many reasons. People love the lower price of the PC, but they hate having to buy a new computer every time their PC takes a dive into a viral coma, which is actually quite common. But that’s just the beginning.

It’s not just the PC operating system that’s to blame; in fact, the Windows operating system on Windows smartphones works very well, and is very much liked by those who use Windows smartphones as well as Windows-based tablets and of course, the newest line from Windows, the Surface. These devices are doing well in their respective markets, yet PCs are lagging.

While buyers of Macs several years ago may have told you the reason they switched from PC to Mac was because they were sick of their computers crashing due to viruses, today they would probably tell you they were switching from PC laptop or desktop to a tablet of some kind, and that’s because they don’t need to take out a loan to purchase one, and offer portability never before possible with such a high degree of device intelligence. From ludicrously sharp, high megapixel cameras to the ability to interact with the cloud and apps that give people access to their social lives, their work documents, and offer them mediums like Skype or Face Time that allow them to interface with everyone from the grandkids to the company CFO.

Tablets and other mobile devices are killing the PC, but it’s not unnatural. In the most organic sense possible, the PC is dying because it is being starved of an interested demographic. Why would any consumer pay twice the price for a Toshiba PC when they could spend half of that on a device that comes locked and loaded with all the doodads, apps, Internet connectivity via Wi-Fi, and don’t require the insane amounts of storage we’ve needed in the past because we’re all storing everything on Google+, Evernote, DropBox, and even the Windows Cloud… just not from a Windows PC.

Accessibility is in fact now the most important thing people look for in a device that offers them what only a PC or Mac desktop could—and so much more. It’s so common it’s a joke: we cannot put our phones down. We can’t release our grasp—literally—on what links us to what we want to know. Our addiction to data access is so severe that we can’t even fathom a scenario in which we’d have to jot down an idea or question on a piece of paper, wait to get home or back to the office, and open up Explorer (let’s not go there, please) and hop on the Internet that was attached to the wall.

PCs were near and dear to us during this time. Dialup was to the PC what the early 1980s were to Mike Tyson—PCs were the best thing ever in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They cost less than Macs, and offered more unpaid options (at that time), longer warranties, and variable user settings. But Apple isn’t all unicorns and fairy dust either—with the exception of the MacBook Pro, when it comes to Apple devices, people are mainly paying for excellent branding, which is fine, as long as their Apple devices deliver on their promises. But such promises can no longer be made by the PC, and that’s exactly why Microsoft is wise to hop into the mobile and tablet world, and their Surface could really be a game changer for the mobile device world—it has the power to bring PC lovers into the current world of technology, and also entices younger demographics who need to take notes and do homework on the go or in tight spaces. The Surface could be to this decade what the PC was in decades past. But one thing is certain: several years from now, you’re going to see two kinds of things on coffee shop tables: MacBooks and various tablets—right now the Samsung Galaxy is owning the world outside of iPad, but there’s no way to know if this is any indication on which direction consumers will go if they are “forced” by economy or other circumstance to go the way of the tablet versus the laptop.

C'est la vie PC, it was awesome writing papers and playing solitaire. It’s not you, it’s me—it’s my need for lightening speed access to information about literally anything with the tap of a screen. If you can’t produce information in front of my eyes in less than a second, it’s just not going to work out.

Need To Know Some Things About Personal Computers?

Backgrounds are huge expense. The unit can cost you lots but have several benefits. Should you purchase something that does not cover all of your needs, it may be challenging to have things done. Improve your buying experience as well as your final purchase using the tips below.

Think about the disc burning features of any desktop computers that you're taking a look at. Consider whether you intend to merely see media or maybe to create your own CDs and DVDs. If You're planning on doing the latter, make sure sure the pc that you simply need supports it. Not all backgrounds come with these capacities.

Assess the audio features of desktop computers which you need to purchase. This is particularly significant when you do jobs or work on computers that depends on audio. Most of the normal sounds cards work with most pc users. Having said that, in the event you do sound editing or mix, you might want something more strong.

If You're planning on storing lots of music or videos, ensure you obtain a hard drive that'll cover your requirements. Generally, the more hard-drive space you could get, the better-off you're. In other words, if you don't merely write e-mails and browse the internet in your desktop. You require the space particularly should you shoot video.
IT Management Company in Dallas-Fort Worth

What are you using your computer for? It's vital to purchase a pc that suits your needs. If you'll use your personal computer to play games, everything you need from your personal computer will probably be different from everything you would need if you're thinking about utilizing the computer to write papers for college.

When you choose your pc, look closely at the forms of applications which are included, especially should you want a word processing program. You must be conscious of either or not you'll get a whole version of aforementioned applications, or in case you'll only obtain a trial version that'll require that you spend additional cash afterwards.

Backup your pc from now and then. Unfortunately, computers do crash and may choose all of the info in the hdd together. Many times that info is significant and it may be devastating to lose such things as graphics, papers, or anything which you keep on your pc.

If you'd like to run several applications simultaneously, you'll need at least 4GB of RAM. If you merely need to accomplish simple jobs, less than 4GB is going to be acceptable. Wish to play computer games? Search for 10GB and above to make sure your games are not lagged and challenging to play.

Should you actually need to save cash on a fresh computer, take a look at refurbished versions or open-box systems. These may commonly be had at deep discounts as well as fractions of the retail cost of a recent one. Do check-out what sort of guarantee and certification they include. Appealingly, you need a refurbished system that's been checked out twice.

After you have got an idea of the kind of desktop that'll do the job, buying becomes much easier. You must currently be prepared to create a wise choice about purchasing a pc. Use all of the assistance which you can to truly have a great shopping experience.

The History Of The Computer

Computers are such a major part of our daily lives, that for most of us, we largely take their existence for granted.  Yet the complex machines that we use today once had very humble beginnings, with the advancement in computer technology escalating in the last 50 years or so.  Here's how the computer's story all began.
The very beginnings
The history of computers can be traced back to the middle 1800s, designed by Charles Babbage.  Although these computers looked nothing like what we would imagine computers to look like today, the concepts of data inputting and outputting, separating storage from processing and the logical structure of computers are very similar to that of today.
Early 1900s
Electro-mechanical computers were built in the 1930s.  They were either analogue or digital. Many of today's concepts in computing originated from these early electro-mechanical machines.  The first program-controlled digital computer was built around this time, which used floating-point numbers in computations.
The first electronic computers came about during WWII.  They were used to decrypt German codes.  The first named one was called Colossus.  Another important computer at this time was called The Baby, which was the first of its type to use an early form of random access memory (RAM) using a cathode-ray tube.
1950s
The 1950s saw a change in the way that computers were used.  Earlier, they had served scientific, mathematical and defence functions.  But, now, they were being used for business purposes, such as accounting and banking functions.  The first mass-produced computer was UNIVAC.
Another major development in computing took place in the mid 1950s, and this was the development of transistor computers.  Transistors replaced vacuum tubes.  The end result was smaller computers.
1960s/1970s
In the 1960s and 70s, the microchip took over computer technology, leading to the microprocesor.  Computers became even smaller.
The first personal computers came about in the early 1970s.  The Commodore PET was one such notable early PC.
1980s/1990s
The advent of portable computers came into existence in the 1980s.  They were by no means portable in the sense we would expect today, as some of them were large and cumbersome to carry!  The first marketed 'laptop' was the Gavilan SC in 1983.  Laptop technology advanced quickly thereafter.
2000s
The new century has seen some of the most exciting developments in computer history.  The introduction of Smartphones has changed the way we use computers today, with a basic phone capable of performing most of the functions that a computer can do.
The development of netbook computers has also catapulted computer technology to the fore, with many having their own in-built WiFi capabilities.
The future
So what can we expect from computers of the future?  Will they develop and change as rapidly as they have done in the last few decades?  Leading experts believe that future computers will be able to process data much faster than today.  Computers will be able to handle ever-increasing complex problems.
Some experts even go as far as to say that computers of the future will be invisible, where computers are actually integrated into everything around us, even the clothing you wear.
Whatever we can expect, the likelihood is that the development will be exciting.

Zalman Reserator 3 for CPU cooling

Though CES 2013 is not going to open its doors until next January 8, Zalman has already released their two new cooling systems for CPUs namely The FX100 and Reserator Cube 3. For the former, it is a heat sink that is fan less, while the second is simply a water-cooling kit all-in-one that should somewhat innovate in CPU cooling. On the one hand, FX100 Cube ensures that the cooling of the processor, as it will be fan less. It is of Fan less Tech and its dimensions are 150 x 150 x 157.5 mm, a weight of 880 grams. Know that it is compatible with processors with "TDP" (Thermal Design Power) does not exceed 77 W, and can cool a Core i7 3770k from Intel. Its sink consists of a massive block of aluminum fins and heat pipes ten a thickness of 6 mm. As we can see below, the four edges of the sink are plastic. In addition, we point out the presence of a grid plate mesh on top which suggests a light blue or red LED.

The Reserator 3 Zalman water cooling is an all-in-one quite original and equally innovative. Unlike the previous two models Reserator which took place outside of the box, it is fixed within a slot fan. Although its composition is classical since the waterblock and pump, pipes, sink and fan all are together. However, this design is unusual and gives some surprises. Indeed, unlike kits from Corsair, Antec, Enermax or those were from CoolIT and Asetek.

Unfortunately, we note that the pipes seem particularly short, forcing probably install the heat sink fan on a location to the rear of the housing, or on the top where the distance to the socket is not too large which is the main disadvantage. Speaking of the sink, its shape changes completely what we have seen so far, since it is circular. Thus, the fan (blue LED) takes place at the center of the fins in a recess. To discover all the technical characteristics of these two innovations which are very interesting we have to wait another two months for CES2013.
