FaceBook is Experimenting for Self- Destructing Posts

FaceBook
It is expected that soon, Facebook users will be able to make their Facebook posts disappear. Facebook is testing with a new mobile feature and this function will allow the users to schedule their posts, which will vanish after a set amount of time.

The Next Web’s Paul Sawers first notice the experiment in Facebook’s iOS app, and later the same confirmed by company, that we are running a new feature on Facebook for iOS and it will allow the users to schedule deletion of their posts in advance. Last week, some screenshots, bubbled up on Twitter, that features the choice of expiration time, from one hour to seven days.

Previous experiments of Facebook:

Till now, we know only little about this new and potentially permanent capability, this move can give the glimpse of Facebook’s strategy to be similar like Snapchat. In December 2012, it started nicely, with the introduction of app Facebook Poke (self-destructing messaging app). Well it was little sly and less permanent method to say Hi to any of friend, and because of lack of originality, it failed miserably. After that fiasco Mark Zuckerberg, decided that if his people can’t build a successful messaging app, so he will just buy one and in November 2013, made a bid of $3 billion to buy Snapchat, but later CEO Evan Spiegel declined the deal. Later, Facebook has adopted a different tactic to make up the loss, i.e. if you can’t buy them so copy them.

A year later, after acquiring WhatsApp, Facebook launch Slingshot, which is ephemeral photo messaging app with a feature to create something different and new space, where user can share everyday moments with their connections at once. The only difference between Slingshot and Snapchat was, that in Slingshot user can post more and can’t block a photo message unless user sent one back first.

In July, 2014, Instagram (Facebook owns) launched an international app known as Bolt, which was also same as Snapchat in function and looks and the main aim of app was to snatch up international users. Last month, Facebook broke off with its mobile messaging feature, and that move was the result of complaints on social media and poor App Store ratings.

Till now the only feature that Facebook had not tried, was the integration of feature self-destructing messages directly into its main app. This feature can bring more users to site on a daily basis and some specific posts would be deleted automatically after some time as per the wish of user. In the world of Silicon Valley, super-young and cool employees have to make some sacrifice for the success of this experiment as it is near identical reproductions for the archenemy’s product. Unfortunately, if this feature will also experience the same as Facebook’s past attempts to beat the Snapchat, than it is very likely to self-destruct in 10, 9, 8, 7…….

Facebook Rolls Out Bandwidth Targeting

 Facebook
Facebook has launched "bandwidth targeting” as an advertising campaign. Most of the Facebook users use their mobile devices to access Facebook. This ad tech has been created to advertise the products and reach people in accordance with the type of connection and data plan they have. Facebook has more than 1.32 billion users all around the globe.

Facebook offers advertising campaigns to promote some organizations. But a couple of days back they updated their system and launched the new ad tech strategy. This new ad tech helps the organizations to provide the people the advertisements they would like to know about. This ad tech simplifies matters and sends the advertisements based on the type of mobile device and the operating system they employ.

How does this launch work?

This ad tech provides the opportunity to the advertisers to publicize the advertisements according to the user's connection of network, data plan and speed. The advertisements are based on whether the user, uses a 2G, 3G, 4G or a more powerful connection. In this way, the mundane advertisements can be avoided. Only those advertising campaigns will be sent which are compatible with the mobile device's data plan and speed.

For instance, there is no utility of sending a video to those employing 2G connection, for there is no utility if they are unable to load the video or even if they buffer for several minutes. So for those with 2G connection, it would be best to send them an image with the link. While videos can be used for campaigning and be sent to those using 3G or higher connections. People look forward to and expect a fast service from their mobile data.

This method of targeting mobile network is very beneficial as they aid the advertisers to provide the right kind of experience, even within restricted and limited device data expenses and bandwidth. The Ad Create tool, the API and the Power Editor are some parts of Facebook, which are helping to promote this new ad tech.

The Utility of the Facebook Advertising Campaign

Statistics revealed, that in June, 2014, around 30 million small and medium scale businesses employed the use of Facebook to promote their organization. In order to connect with their customers they have their pages on Facebook to stretch their customer circle wider and reach out to more people. This ad tech will definitely be able to provide with more localized campaigns.

Impact of this launch on India

There are approximately around nine lakh small and medium businesses (SMB), who uses Facebook as a promotional platform. India is the second largest user base on the basis of marketing. India is one of the emerging countries, where most of the Facebook users are under restricted and limited data connection and feature mobile devices.

Thus, advertising can be done accordingly. This can reach the people according to the device the person uses, whether it is a Smartphone or feature phones or tablets. Some companies have already started to test the result of this new strategy like Vodafone in India and they are pleased with the result.

10,000 Users Affected Because of Facebook Malfunction!

Facebook
The problem started with the color changing scam trick. The malware gives the opportunity to the user to change the color of the FaceBook profile by downloading it via a site. This time the scam has hit over 10,000 users on FaceBook and all of them are affected by it.

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF:

FaceBook has faced this problem time and again and it has attacked back all over again! The problem was notified by a Chinese internet Company called Cheetah Mobile I their blog. The scam has been repeated over and over again for the last two years and it has still managed to resurface all over again.

HOWDOES IT WORK?

In two different ways, the website has managed to create the menace. The process starts with the website advising the user to download an application that would help the user change the color of their profile. They then asks the user to download a token tutorial video. This temporarily helps the hacker get access to all the user’s friends.

If the user refuses to download the video, the site tries to get them to download an unwanted application. If the user is accessing FaceBook via their PC, the user will be connected to a pornographic video and be made to download it. Moreover, if the user is connected to FaceBook via an android device, a warning appears on the screen saying that it is affected by it and will be asked to download an application.

SOLUTION:

It is not entirely clear how FaceBook hopes to fix this major issue that has affected many of FaceBook’s user over the years. It has hit FaceBook more than once. A lot of people have already fallen victim for it and according to Cheetah Mobile’s blog, it is due to FaceBook’s own lack of protection.

People who have already fallen a prey to this application, the best advice is to uninstall the application as soon as it hits the user.

There is no permanent solution to this problem so it seems as of now. No responses have come from the website. This is a matter of protecting personal details for a lot of users. It is important that some drastic steps are taken by FaceBook about this issue for this is one website that is accessed by a number of user spread all over the globe. According to the experts at Cheetah Mobile, they recommends FaceBook to disable its entire application platform so that this problem is permanently dealt with. But how far this solution is possible is a matter of debate and is still under consideration for this might have an effect on a third party application to rely on FaceBook login.

It is not a simple problem. Thus, it does not come with a simple solution. The matter is still under consideration. No assurance has come from the working board of FaceBook as of now. Hopefully, things will fall in place.

Importance of Facebook in Recent Days

Facebook is undoubtedly one of the most popular names when it is about being social. Since its inception, Facebook has been quite popular in providing useful and helpful information with respect to various kinds of trending issues and problems. Likewise, Facebook has also recently unveiled an App that is especially dedicated to only famous people.

What is Facebook Mentions App?

The release of any new App nevertheless gains considerable attention from the entire global media. The rank of prominence goes to another level when it is released by a famous and a worldwide name like Facebook. The App thus released actually becomes more like a platform for the existing celebrities and prominent names. This is because as claimed, with the help of this App, the renowned persons or the celebrities can now stay in touch with their respective fans. This new App is named as Facebook Mentions and is supportable only in the Apple's official App Store.

Multiple Facets of One App

Facebook Mentions is really a unique App. It paves the way for only those public figures and personalities who have a verified page on Facebook. This means not all those fake admins of several pages can have any kind of access to it, thus enabling more authenticity and more privacy. As for now, Facebook has not allowed even the brands and other companies to use Facebook Mentions. However, the company claims that it would do that soon in the near future as this App is introduced to the other countries as well, since for now this App is available only in US.

With the help of this App, people can actually start a conversation with those people, who are most talked and most discussed. All these public figures can share their respective photos, videos and much more. In addition, they can share a Q&A session live only with the help of their phones. Along with that, these respective public figures can also be a part of any important or trending conversation, thus being able to know about the viewpoints of their respective fans and lovers.

A break through Step by Facebook

The introduction of this App is really a wise step by Facebook. Apart from connecting the fans to their beloved figures, this App also serves as a platform for all those who are currently at the infancy of fame. Public figures who have just tasted success and are wanting more limelight from public, can readily use this App.

It seems that Facebook is wanting the famous and the renowned people to stay on easier connections with their help. This App actually breaks out from the conventional ideas and notions that called the famous celebrities to rely only on Media for broadcasting and expressing their respective views. Basically, it serves as the role of a middleman.

In each perspective thus, this new Facebook Mentions App comes to be a great help. It is once a simple application and a good opportunity for staying up and close with fans. By this introduction, Facebook yet again showed it is creating better ideas with better opportunities.

Soon You Can Transfer Money Instead Of Likes With Facebook Bank

Facebook Bank
Facebook plans to launch a payment service in the coming weeks, reports the Financial Times. About this e-money service to buy goods and goods of Facebook users, but can also exchange money between Facebook users. Besides Likes and Share Facebook users may soon be able to remit via the social network payment and money.

An application should already have been made . The fact that Facebook Carrying its business is always looking for new ways to make money, is clear. According to a recent report, the Facebook network now wants to make them a kind of financial institution. For this reason, an appropriate bank license in Ireland, the European home country of the Group was requested.

As the Financial Times reported in its fee-based online issue, should this license application now apparently is nearing approval. The one wants to hear about several internal sources that are familiar with the process. So Mark Zuckerberg will soon be as a bank director! The payment and money transfer service is designed to enable Facebook users to transfer money to the Facebook account and then use it within Facebook on.

Thus, goods could be paid within Facebook via the e-money service. But even that transfer money to other Facebook users would thus be possible. So Facebook would compete with conventional banks in some way. If the current report proves correct, Facebook is expected to issue electronic money to its members shortly in the European Union.

For the Facebook Users, it would be possible to exchange a certain amount in a kind of Facebook - currency and then to trade with other members of the network. Even currently Facebook plays as money managers in some situations, for example, it handles the payments when buying a game on its own platform.

The company earns a commission. According to the latest report Facebook wants to aim with his step towards full-fledged payment service into emerging markets. What Facebook is planning with its new banking license will not be clear until an official announcement from its side is made. Until then all will be purely speculation.

It will be interesting how the world's largest social network will position itself in this regard against services like PayPal and others. This new payment service could be particularly interesting if money is to be transferred to other countries. Within the EU the Bank Transfer is simplified by IBAN implementation, but the money transfer to other countries is not as easily doable.

This could be the way on Facebook for more comfort and may also ensure that the money goes faster than before at the receiver. The main target market see Facebook but mainly developing countries and emerging markets, the newspaper quoted a person who is familiar with Facebook's strategic plans. Facebook itself did not want to comment further on the details.

So far, Facebook has not introduced such a payment function officially and shortly a Facebook event is scheduled.

How to create Custom Facebook Page

Facebook Page
You may have noticed that Facbook has made changes in their layout in recent days. Facebook pages are now represented using new timeline view instead the custom platforms. Many users now usually have owned page in Facebook, in which they can add cover photos and they are also allowed to highlight important stories by pinning them to the top of their timeline.

Pages in Facebook by default have included several features such as Events, Photos, Video and Notes. Some people demand for extra features such as Google Map, Youtube videos and may be even Calendar events. In order to perform you need to create an app that supports this thing in your profile. There by custom Facebook pages can be created to fulfill your wish. If you thing this isn’t possible let me show some thing for instance.

Nokia has created an official page that signifies has a Welcome Tab highlighting some their recent launches, Nike featured Location Tab that highlights location of Nike stores across the country. Apple’s App Store page has created a Tab which describes their list of Top selling Apps and games.

How do these Big names have created their own Facebook pages? Ever get into a feeling that they are big brands and hire skilled labors to do so. Even you can create your own Apps in Facebook without writing a single code.

How to Build custom Apps for Facebook Pages

Facebook Apps can be embedded into pages by just using IFRAME tag. It is similar like embedding in HTML web page, if you are able to embed MP3w, Google Maps, YouTube videos, Google calendar, photos and lots more you can also embed into Facebook in similar way.

Just prior to getting into actual process you have to locate a lay to host the HTML, CSS, JavaScript and several files associated with it to your web page. It is Desire to go with Google Sites because it offers free WYSIWYG which provides tool to edit page. Google Sites is integrated with Google Analystics to you can track out who visit your page often. It isn’t exciting that you can view peoples who visit your site, Facebook doesn’t offer you this feature but by custom mode you can avail by this Google Sites.

Some of the other major reason to choose Google Sites is that, it offers secured pages over (https) and (http) connections. This is awfully important since majority Facebook user would have turned on “secure browsing” in their security settings. If your page is going to be http then it will display a warning message. So Google sites must always be preferred.

These steps are not complicated, hence even normal Facebook user can try to do so on knowing the technologies like JavaScript a little bit not up to depth. Try out these steps to create your own custom Facebook page and watch out to be unique from others.

How to Make Your Facebook Account Crime-Proof

The Internet is rife with hackers and fraudsters, and to these cybercrooks, no target is juicer or more tempting than Facebook. With over a billion active users, Facebook provides plenty of opportunities for unscrupulous scammers to do their dirty work — whether it's stealing passwords, identities, or money and goods. Fortunately, there are a few easy ways that Facebook users can protect themselves from people who can do serious harm to your financial life.
If you want to crime-proof your Facebook account, just follow these four simple steps.

1) Choose A Strong Password

Some scammers commit cyber identity theft by hacking into your account and impersonating you to your online friends. Online security starts with a secure password. Believe it or not, many hackers are able to get your password and log in into accounts simply by making an educated guess. But if you follow a few simple principles, you can make a password that is virtually hacker proof.
  • Choose a password that is eight characters long
  • Use a mix of numbers and special characters ( like%,&,*and #)
  • Pick a password that is easy for you to remember
  • Change your password twice a year

2) Remove The Criminals From Your Friends List

You can end potential problems before they start by removing troublemakers from your friends list. By blocking criminals, you will deny them access to your posts, and the personal information that is meant for just your friends and family. The easiest way to tell if someone will commit a crime is if they have repeatedly been arrested and convicted in the past. You can run every name on your friends list through a website like CheckMate.com. Simply by searching for someone’s first and last name, you can pull public records and see if any of your Facebook friends have been convicted of a crime in the past.

3) Don’t Post When You’re On Vacation

Burglars regularly comb social media sites looking for potential targets. When someone reveals that they are out of town and their home is empty, that gives thieves a tip of who to rob next. The easiest way to avoid this problem is to simply avoid revealing your vacation plans until you have returned. It’s much safer to wait until you get home to share photos and stories of your trip.
If you absolutely must tell people on Facebook about the fabulous time you’re having, you could always use Facebook’s custom privacy feature.  You can choose to share your messages only with your most trusted friends and family members, and leave your vacation posts hidden from the rest of your friends list.

4) Beware Of Phishing Emails

Another common way crooks will retrieve your Facebook password information is through phishing emails. You might receive a message asking you to provide your email address and password for some reason, and the hacker will then use that info to access your account. Remember, Facebook will never send you your password as an attachment, ask you for your account password via email, or ask for your social security information.

Facebook corrects a flaw that allowed removing the photos of other users

Facebook has paid $ 12,500 to a security researcher in India for the discovery of a flaw that allows an attacker, through the identification of a photo and easily delete a photo. Unlike Palestinian hacker Khalil Shreateh, Arul Kumar has received a reward, 12,500 dollars, from Facebook to the discovery and disclosure of a security lapse on the site. The security researcher has discovered on the social network, and more specifically in the setup menus (Support Dashboard), a critical bug. The attack was done from the Facebook menu to send a request to withdraw a photograph published on the social network. These requests can be sent to Facebook or directly to the owner of the image. The process automatically generates a link, which if clicked then automatically generates the suppression of the image. Arul Kumar had found a way to send the request to another recipient and could remove at will and photos on the social network. For this, the attacker needed the id of the photo and the user ID (available on the Facebook Graph). The flaw in it has been corrected by Facebook's security team, and therefore rewarded Arul Kumar.

Facebook Graph Search, A Social search is started!

The new search "Graph-Search" conjures very personal search results. Now the feature has left the beta stage and is available for the first members who use Facebook in English available. This the time to check your privacy settings to avail this. The last major visible change was the switch from Facebook to the Facebook Chronicle. Then the focus was probably on it to make money to keep the shareholders in a good mood: The Top rated ads, services and recommended links and more commercial. Recently Facebook has bought, built, or copied mainly existing services. Truly no innovative features for users and there was hardly the last big Facebook event was years ago. Under the name "Graph-Search" stated Mark Zuckerberg before the new Facebook search. Facebook scours only to its own database, for personal results. Privacy is maintained as before: Only data that are public or were shared with the user can be used. Entering a search should work intuitively, "Which of my friend lives in Hamburg?", "What TV shows or music liked by my friends?" Or combinations thereof are possible. After Mark Zuckerberg had presented the Graph-Search in January, users were able to register on a waiting list to try out the new feature. Shortly thereafter, several users reported that they had been approved in the beta phase and could use the new search. Then there was silence for graph search. Six months later, the beta seems to be complete. Facebook reports that social search is now faster, smarter and simpler to use. It said the feature will soon be for all Facebook members who have made the website language to "English (U.S.)", to be accessible. The search would be updated automatically.

When exactly is the social graph also available? It is unclear. Users in here received on 9 July 2013 an indication of the introduction of the new search: "Tip: Search on the social graph is now introduced. It facilitates users to search for photos and other things that you have shared with them. To check who can see your content, just click on the Privacy icon. "Facebook so also warns its users, once again to set their privacy settings and check who can see what shared content. In the comment section of The Verge cavorted during the beta phase, several Facebook users who claim to have access to graph search. One user commented that the search is very useful and thanks to Facebook, he had already found a friend for a snowboarding trip and a replacement for a football game. Other users rated the function as "creepy": It is a very good way to spy on his friends.

The Facebook app on Android is intrusive!

The publisher of Norton anti-virus reported about the Facebook application on Android. The up-to-date Norton Mobile Security comes with bad news for Facebook. Last Thursday the Norton raised this issue in one of a blog. The new technology offered by Facebook namely Mobile Suite which gives mobile insight is the root cause for this issue. This application makes the social network to index the mobile number you are using. The more interesting work of Mobile Insight is the automatic collection and analyst information about applications installed on the device. Technology Norton actually a summary combining data of the Android by applications such as phone number, email, contacts etc. It must simply answer the question "What does your camera with you?" Particularly it is more sensitive on Smartphones. Note in passing that Facebook is regularly pointed to her bulimia of personal data, in the heart of its business model. Late last week, we learned for example that the UFC-Queue Chooser has launched a legal battle against the social network and other giants in connection with the lack of respect for the privacy of users. Analysis by Norton Mobile Security could give grist to critics of Facebook. The application of social network on Android has been marked with a flag automatically. Reason: it will automatically send the phone number of the user to the Facebook servers.

It does not look like much, and may even seem normal. Except, says Norton, that sending the telephone number is the first launch of the application, "even before you hook up" to your Facebook account. "You do not need to provide your number to identify you, or even have a Facebook account for this to happen." This therefore provides a good number of users, since the Facebook application has been downloaded hundreds of millions of times. In fact, most of these users have installed anyway to use Facebook, and had to provide a phone number to the social network, even without it. But is it to Facebook to allow the recovery of data, without the advice of the user? At each judge, but here Norton adopts a restrictive policy, which can be seen well from users a little heated by Facebook, competitors, and practices. Moreover, Facebook said that they did not use the numbers, and have removed from its servers.

If evidence was that the social network walking on eggshells on these issues, and is clearly not comfortable with the analysis of Norton Mobile Security. The new line of Facebook seems to be confirmed: it will be fixed in the next release - a way of saying that this is a bug? However, Norton concludes, "the Facebook application is not only to steel private data, or even worse." Mobile Insight has already analyzed over 4 million Android applications, and added "tens of thousands" per day. Norton Mobile Security and packed with information on the intrusive applications, says the editor, who warns. "You might be surprised by what your applications reveal about you"

Facebook is soon with private chat rooms!

Facebook is testing private chat rooms. According to information from TechCrunch, the new function is currently in the testing phase, which will decide whether they will be introduced for all users of the social network or not. According to the information, you could start out from the status line chat rooms in the future. The new chat feature is called "host chat". It is about personal chat areas, as TechCrunch reports: A user launches an open chat, which his friends can join if they want. They learn about their timeline of the open chat room. The initiator may exclude friends he does not want to invite into his chat room. According to TechCrunch host chats started from the field for Facebook status updates out. The options "Status" and "Photos / Videos" then came as the opportunity for "Start chat" list. The user can enter the chat topic or a name and make privacy settings. Then, a reference to the open chat room in the timeline of his friends to join him by clicking appears. The conversation then takes place in a normal chat window. Currently testing is going on for Facebook chat rooms in a small circle. It is not yet decided whether the function is available for all visitors in the future or not. The advantage of chat rooms for Facebook would be that users would spend on the website so even more time.

Facebook allows users to Test their Beta Version

Facebook just announced that it was setting up a test program for its Android application. Thus, those who wish to test it may register and use a special version which will be updated more often, with features being finalized. While Android is gaining more and more popularity, the diversity of Smartphones, not to mention the fragmentation in the OS versions, raises concern. Developers should indeed take into account a multitude of cases, while the iOS side, only a few models of the iPhone, iPad and iPod exist. Recognizing this problem, the Facebook team has decided to launch a new program. This will enable it to offer a beta version to all users who have decided to use. It will allow developers to identify potential problems in terms of both ergonomics and operation, before starting production on the stable version of the application. This is good initiatives that is rather significant, and allow "early adopters" to find their happiness. Currently, the cycle of updating Facebook is four weeks. This is a practice which came into force last year. During this period, it is the employees who are testers, and can give their opinion about the features under development. But for the reasons mentioned above, a larger panel was necessary. Thus, at the beginning of this year, manufacturers such as Facebook Qualcomm, HTC, Ericsson, Sony, Huawei and MediaTek are partners and have had the opportunity to have early access to certain features (including the disastrous Facebook Home?). The goal here was to allow optimization namely the material for items such as graphics rendering, network management, etc. This is the very first opening for Android users to set up via functionality integrated update to the Facebook app.

Facebook may unveil its own RSS reader

The number one social network Face book will hold a press conference on Thursday to introduce a new service. It could be an RSS reader, traces of which were found in the code of Facebook pages.
