Should Your Business Use Appointment Setting Software?

Ask a new sales professional what she dreads most about her job and you may hear, "cold calling prospective customers." The Robertson Training Group says that people dislike cold calling because they hate feeling rejected. This one reason stops not only sales professionals. It stops everyday people from asking for experiences they want.

For example, the fear of feeling rejected stops men and women from asking people they have strong feelings for out on dates. The fear of rejection also stops workers from asking for promotions or pay increases, even when the employees have completed higher levels of work, clearly demonstrating that they have earned promotions and/or salary increases.

To reduce their fear of rejection, sales professionals are turning to appointment setting software. The software can be customized for certain businesses. Certain industries may find the software more critical to their bottom line than other companies. Intelliverse’s appointment setting service, http://www.intelliverse.com/services/appoinment-setting.shtml ,is built to reduce the fear of being rejected in that it calls or contacts customers, eliminating the need for sales professionals to dial prospective customers themselves.

The appointment setting software can be used to schedule a specific number of outbound calls for one or more members of a sales team to make each day, week, month or quarter. Because the software automates calling systems, it can be set to dial a range of customers directly. During this time, sales professionals can rehearse sales messages. They can also review statistics, recent news reports and other analytics they plan to discuss with clients.

Busy sales professionals may want to use the time to respond to customer questions or to finalize presentations. After appointment setting software successfully connects with prospective customers, a warning flashes across a dashboard screen, alerting sales professionals to the fact that the prospect they want to speak with is on the line.

In addition to reducing, possibly even eliminating the fear of rejection, from sales professionals, appointment setting software can also help rid sales professionals of other reasons they dislike making cold calls. For example, the software can be used to keep sales persons from feeling as they are coming across as desperate commission-based workers.

No longer sounding like a telemarketer, losing the fear that they will be interrupting a prospect at home or at work and feeling the pressure to close sales on the first call are other barriers that the software can reduce or eliminate. Because the software is not an auto dialer, sales persons stay in control of which prospects are contacted and when.

To get the most out of the software, businesses that use the software should monitor the results of outbound calls on a daily basis. Furthermore, if businesses test different sales pitches or scripts, they can measure which pitches or scripts generate the best results from which types of customers. For example, businesses could use the software's reports to find out if young adults living in the western part of the country respond more positively to their active sales pitches than retirees do.

“Coin", The New Credit Card Replacement

Coin
A California based start-up has developed "Coin", a small device as the size of a credit card can bring up to eight cards in one, leaving it to the user to change the map to the environment through a single button. The announcement last week has not gone unnoticed by man. The California start-up Coin has finalized the development of his first-born, a device that of the size of a credit card that aims to drastically reduce the volume of your wallet by replacing up to eight credit cards, membership cards, gifts or any other type of cards with a magnetic strip.

Named as “Coin" and also developed map by the young company based in San Francisco leaves his happy owner the opportunity to move from one card to another by pressing a single circular button located on top of the card. Once selected, “Coin" functions as the cards it proposes to replace, either in an ATM or in an electronic payment terminal or any suitable type of player. The secret lies in its Coin tape - whose patent is being filed - a tape whose contents change at will.

The unit comes with a small reader that plugs into the audio port (via a jack ) for scanning the cards information migrate to the mobile application "Coin", which then synchronizes with the card via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE or Wibree). Created by the Finnish Nokia, this protocol allows wireless transmission rate equivalent to Bluetooth (1Mb / s) for 10 times less energy consumption, and is currently the heyday of Smart watches or other activity trackers.

Battery of the Coin lasts at least for a range of almost two years (according to the details provided by the developers), and feeds a small screen that displays the last four digits of the card that you choose to use, and the date of validity and the visual cryptogram . The man behind Coin decided to embark on this adventure by analyzing the critical success of “SquareReader " means a device to convert any Smartphone payment terminal with a card reader and a mobile application.

Rather than working on a system that accepts many payment cards, they chose to play the duality trying to develop a map that meets all. The premise seemed exciting enough to entice some of the brains of Silicon Valley, combining their talents to develop a prototype worthy of the name.

The designers quickly rallied behind the idea of a single button used to activate both the tape to move from one card to another and display the data on the card chosen to avoid any possibility of confusion. They also set eight cards to limit, although the soft underbelly “Coin " is quite able to swallow more. The team took the view that the majority of potential users do not have more than eight cards, and navigation through a higher number of cards would be uncomfortable and would fall within the challenge.

The team itself reassuring regarding the protection of data as sensitive as those stored in a credit card, arguing that many companies already have full access to your bank account without the security of them is threatened. "The copy of the information contained in your credit card is not otherwise illegal , since it is your own information ," says , trying to sweep a backhand doubts about the actual safety of the device and the possibilities for fraud.

The data is encrypted on the Smartphone and the map "Coin" , but become useless if the contact between the phone and the card - via the BLE protocol - is broken more than a few minutes , the exact number of minutes yet to be determined. Finally, the use of the transmission protocol has the advantage of allowing the sending of an alert when the communication between the two devices is interrupted, for example if the user goes to a trade forgetting his card.

3g vs. 4g: Is the Upgrade Worth It?

Claims have been thrown around that 4g speeds in the UK are up to 10 times higher than the old 3g that we’re used to, or possibly even more if there aren’t a lot of other people in your location competing for fast internet. While EE was the first to offer 4g at large to the UK’s public mobile phone owners, Vodafone and O2 have not lost time jumping on board the money making wagon. The purchase of a 4g ready mobile from one of these three providers guarantees you the fastest wireless data connection that has ever existed, that is, depending on how many people in your current location you’re competing with for decent speed.
4g speed - although we know that it will certainly be 5-10 times faster than the third generation of wireless at all times - will vary quite heavily based on where you are. In the city of London, for example, you may find yourself able to get about 10MB per second, while in a smaller city like Manchester your speeds might be up to 30-40MB per second. EE' 4g offering, 4GEE will cover 98% of the UK’s population by the end of next year with their double-speed service, though at the moment they only cover 20 major cities. They advertise that it will take only three minutes to download a movie that might have taken 20 or more in the past.
Those who will find the upgrade to 4g most useful are those who are heavy users of video chats, live streaming apps, large downloads, and long sessions surfing the web. 4g with a good signal and a ready device will speed these activities up remarkably so that your communication and productivity is never again broken by a wireless connection that’s chugging along at snail’s pace. But for those who use their phone primarily for calls and texts and who tend to use their home computer as more of a browsing and downloading device than their smart phone, 4g isn’t bound to make much of a noticeable difference in your life. The upgrade to 4g is typically costing a few extra pounds a month, not to mention the fee if you need to trade-in your old 3g phone for a 4g compatible phone.
The Nokia Lumia 625 is a good choice of value phone that is capable of running 4g and has a decent, all-round performance and tile based interface. At less than half the cost of many phones of its capability, the Lumia is the handset for 4g hunters on a budget, and can be had through O2 for around £17 on contract, or £240 up front. But beware that the mobile is not exactly future-proof, and struggles with its app offerings as it runs Windows Phone 8, a platform for which many apps are still unavailable.
Three is the next provider on the run to get 4g out to its customers, but is now kindly promising to give the upgrade away for free to its users, as long as you are a current phone owner through Three. Some providers are offering discounted handset prices as long as you purchase them with 4g wireless, and there are deals a plenty buzzing around the mobile smartphone world, as 4g is one of the most exciting worldwide releases this year. And with Three offering the highly sought after iPhone 5s for only £99 with a subsidized plan, their deal of free 4g is a very good one indeed. Their 4g LTE network, however, will not be fully functional until December, so if you don’t want to wait you’ll have to choose from EE, O2, or Vodafone instead.

Buying a Volumetric Concrete Mixer – A Rough Guide

Construction is a tough trade by design and it would be even tougher if you didn't have the right equipment at hand. Perhaps the most indispensable piece of equipment in the construction workers arsenal is the concrete mixer and of all the concrete mixers on the market, volumetric concrete mixers are by a country mile the most reliable, powerful and cost effective, not to mention the best suited to larger scale operations.

What is a Volumetric Concrete Mixer?

A volumetric mixer measures the raw materials used to mix concrete by volume, whereas conventional mixing by hand measures materials by weight. This process results in a more even and consistent blend of materials and it is far more effective as mixing by hand would be far more labour intensive. The rough process uses an auger, a paddle or a drum device to mix the ingredients (cement, gravel and sand) together with water and it starts with a system that measures the volume of the materials before they enter the mixing chamber. The process could involve anything from a simple measured bucket to a highly sophisticated, computerised system of plants depending on the size and complexity of the mixer. These mixers are generally mounted onto the backs of heavy load vehicles for easy transportation between job sites.

First or second hand?

In the construction trade, a man is generally only as good as his tools so using the best and most reliable equipment is absolutely vital. But does that equipment necessarily have to be factory fresh to be useable? Second hand equipment can (if it's been well maintained) be just as effective as new equipment and there are obvious benefits to buying used gear beyond the obvious financial boons. For one, used volumetric concrete mixers will have had a proven track record so you know they have worked in the past and hence should work in the future. More often than not, you won't even be able to notice the difference between brand new and used mixers anyway. Many suppliers will offer services such as sandblasting and repainting, which will give the equipment the veneer of a new mixer. They should also be recalibrated by the supplier itself and they will be checked over thoroughly and given all necessary repairs. Part exchange might also be available and will be reconditioned to each customers exact specifications. There should also be a full 12 month warranty and the competitive pricing of used volumetric concrete mixers means that you might be able to buy or hire two or three for the price of one new mixer. Of course there are also suppliers who won't offer these kind of reliable services so be sure to do adequate research beforehand.

Big or small?

Before you make a decision on the size, style and make of mixer, take into account exactly what you'll be using the mixer for. Which kind of structures will you be building? What kind of locations will you be building in and how much concrete are you going to require on average? If you'll only be using it for relatively small construction jobs or are only buying it for a one off use, a smaller, portable model would obviously be preferable. If you are in the business of building larger, more ambitious structures though, you'll require an industrial mixer that can mix up large amounts of concrete in a relatively short amount of time.

Other factors to consider

Hand pump or electricity? – All concrete mixers will be powered electrically or by a hand pump. Obviously the majority of modern mixers will be powered by electricity but some smaller, more portable used volumetric concrete mixers could still operate via hand pump.
Ask around – Ask those in the know. Talk to other people in the construction business. Particularly civil engineers, who will be the ones responsible for deducing the capacity of each mixer and gauging how much concrete is needed in each job.
Calvin Ford is a freelance copywriter from just outside Birmingham the UK who effectively grew up on a construction site, so knows what he's talking about when it comes to volumetric concrete mixers.

New Android Handheld Mobile Game Console From Archos

Archos gamepad 2
Archos new version of its Android mobile game console is now available in Europe for only 190 Euros and the buyer gets this latest handheld gamepad 2, which eliminates major criticisms of its predecessor. The Archos gamepad 2 is the second gaming device that comes with an Android operating system and physical controls. So that users can play games from the Play Store as with a console controller.

With the preinstalled mapping tool which physical control buttons can be linked using drag -and-drop with the virtual control elements on the display. Archos tries the new gamepad 2, rectified some weaknesses of the previous model. Thus, the screen viewing angle is not stable, relatively dark and low contrast in the first version. The Archos gamepad 2 is now building up a 7 -inch IPS display, the viewing angle is stable.

The resolution has been increased from 1,024 to 1,280 x 600 pixels x 800 pixels. This gives a pixel density of 215 ppi, the previous one had only 170 ppi. The processor also been improved: Inside the gamepad 2 now works with an unspecified quad-core processor with Cortex-A9 cores and a clock speed of 1.6 GHz.

In the first game pad is a dual-core processor with the same clock speed. The memory size has increased from 1 to 2 GB. Of this gamepad 2, battery with a rated load of 5,000 mAh will last longer than the predecessor. The gamepad 2 comes with Android in version 4.2. The user has full access to Google's Play Store and other Google apps.

A separate Archos AppStore in the game zone filters out compatible games from the entire range directly with the control elements of the tablet. The purchase itself is still done with Google Play. With the mapping tool, the user can theoretically link each game using the control buttons. This has worked well in the first gamepad; according to Archos function has been improved.

Official Facebook app for Windows 8 and Windows Phone now available

Facebook Apps
Microsoft has announced it will now be possible for Windows application developers to integrate a Facebook authentication module with a positive sign given to the developers, It does not look like much, yet the news is a huge opening on the part of Microsoft, which has announced that in the future sign, developers can make the choice to integrate a module to Facebook iD in their applications to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 .

A partnership has been reached with the social network to enable users of Microsoft solutions more easily identify with various applications in order to better share their actions on the network, but also to avoid multiple registration process . A facility that can attract users, but also allows developers to avoid having to manage accounts and personal data with the utmost care and security that entails.

On the other hand, Microsoft could lose as it has been several years that the company seeks to bring its users under the control of a “Microsoft " has become possible for all of its services, but also to access software and brand partners sites. Implemented from today, the module will fit in the days that come in a variety of applications including Foursquare, Photoshop Express, iHeartRadio and many others.

Requested for several years by developers, Microsoft would have eventually folded. The side of the publishers, the benefits should be felt quickly, users are more clapboard to use their applications if they are able to interact with their Facebook account.

Eventually, Microsoft could also win out because the door open could allow it to retrieve new publishers and new applications so far refused to settle on its various platforms.

4 Apps That save you money with your car

Drivers should swear off texting and thumb-twiddling games behind the wheel,  but the smart phone, when safely clipped to the dashboard and out of your hands, can be much more than a dangerous distraction in the car. Mobile apps can give drivers the tools they need to drive more safely and smartly, whether helping then maximise fuel mileage or locate a misplaced vehicle in a sprawling car park. We run down the best mobile apps on the market for the wired, wallet-conscious UK motorist.
My Cars (Android, free)
Feel like your driving costs are spiraling out of control, driven upwards by hefty fuel bills, steep insurance premiums, and endless repairs and maintenance costs? Track everything and learn how to boast efficiency and minimise outputs with this handy app. Can't remember when you last had your oil changed? My Cars knows. Always forget to have your car served after so many miles? My Cars can remind you. Regular servicing keeps your car humming, resolving minor issues before they require pricey repairs (or cause accidents) and maintaining the salability of the vehicle. My Cars also allows you to track fuel efficiency and determine the best--and worst--conditions for your petrol consumption. And unlike similar apps, My Cars allows users to log data from multiple cars at once, making it useful for multi-vehicle households.
Road Trip Lite (iPhone, free)
If you're not a obsessive number cruncher (or an Android user) but still want to maximise your cars performance and minimise costs with some simple math, look into Road Trip Lite. A quicker and more accessible app for logging mileage, fuel economy, and maintenance costs, Road Trip Lite produces streamlined graphs to help you understand how your car eats up petrol and how to improve your stats. The full version of Road Trip (£2.99) comes with a full caboodle of features, including trip expense and tyre installation logs and support for multiple vehicles, but laymen can probably save their pennies and cope well with the leaner version.
Intelligent Marmalade (iPhone and Android, free)
Young drivers face steep insurance costs but a telematics scheme can help them par down costs with safe driving. Intelligent Marmalade replicates the tracking of the insurer's 'black box,' monitoring all the variables (except speed) that the actual box does, and then delivering a score. It's specifically targeted at young drivers but others can benefit from finding out how safely they drive--and if a telematics box could whittle down their insurance costs. Great way to try out telematics even if you don't plan to insure with Marmalade.
AA Parking (iPhone and Android, £1.99)
Sick of creeping through a crowded city looking for a parking spot and finally being forced to shill out nearly a month's rent to shoehorn your car in between four others? This app, boasting data on all paid and free car parks in the UK and Ireland, can help you locate the nearest and cheapest parking spot for you vehicle. In some areas you can even tap into real-time data about parking space availability, with information about opening hours and up-to-date price listings.

YotaPhone with LCD and E-ink screen

YotaPhone
The Russian Yota Devices came over a year ago with an novel idea, a Smartphone with not only an LCD screen on the front , but also an E -ink screen on the back . Since then we have heard little about Yota, but the company has certainly not been idle all this time. The YotaPhone is a best addition for this Christmas Eve.

The YotaPhone is having a 4.3 inch LCD screen with HD resolution (720p) in the front. At the rear is an E -ink screen with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. That second screen is always on and giving you all the notifications such as, missed calls, the weather forecast, reminders and messages.

One advantage is that you do not have to look, so the battery life will be more. Even though your battery is completely dried; the last viewed information still remains visible on the screen. In addition, one more advantage is with the E-ink screens that is visible even in bright sunlight and is perfectly readable in the broad day light. A bit of a shame is that the E-ink screen is not touch screen.

There is only a capacitive touch- zone below the screen for navigation. The Android 4.2.2 running on YotaPhone and is equipped with a 1.7 GHz dual - core processor, 2GB RAM, a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash, a 1 -megapixel front camera and a battery with a capacity of 1.800mAh. The price offered is not known and the pre order is on the way at their Yota site.

Google Chrome 31 Browser with more Apps!

 Google Chrome 31
Especially Google Browser Chrome 31 comes with new improvements for Apps under the hood Google added those vigorously under the hood of the fast browser. With Chrome 31, the latest version of the fast browser for Windows, OS X, and Linux is available for download. For the security of the browser version let Google spent more money. Overall, the development team includes 25 vulnerabilities check in Chrome 31, of which at least five are classified as critical.

The highest premium money goes to "SkyLined” by Google Chrome Security Team for finding a bug in the HTML parser. With the Portable Native Client (PNaCl), the browser gets a new technique offered; Google is working on for years. Even in Chrome 14, Google had presented its translation tool. PNaCl enables developers to write apps using the C or C + +. Let then run in Chrome with the new technology, whether Windows, Mac or Android running in the "background”. This not just an easy task for developers, but also has benefits for users.

Thanks to the low-level programming can be so resource-intensive applications such as 3D games, video and audio editing or CAD programs implemented. What advantages attract future apps from the art, showing the side PNaCI demos. URL handler Chrome Apps may also access memory from the network immediately to forward the local documents, for example, to web-based applications which is more helpful to the users. Directory access with Chrome apps gets the opportunity to access user-defined directories on the PC. This fall, for example, browser applications on the same data as locally installed programs.

Like its predecessors, Chrome 31 also completed the latest version of Google's browser with the sovereign benchmark parkour. While no wins Chrome 31 percentage points over the previous add, however, it is possible to program a surprise coup in the SunSpider benchmark. Dominated here with the Microsoft Internet Explorer for a long time the top position, succeeds Chrome, at least catch up and catch up with IE 11th The SunSpider benchmarks, V8 Octane and check the speed of presentation of JavaScript. The Acid3 test analyzes the conformity to current web standards. Peacekeeper (Pk ) will focus on HTML5 elements . In SunSpider, a low value (in seconds) better - for V8, Octane, Acid3 and Peacekeeper, a high value (in points / runs).

With the implementation of request auto complete Google wants to simplify. Similar to the AutoFill feature for the browser stores your contact information to request payment. Websites use the function; the browser retrieves the stored data from you in the browser and into the respective form fields automatically. To safeguard your data, the function is only to sites with SSL encryption. But the payment processing does not affect the novelty.

Android users get the new version also able to create bookmarks directly on the home screen. Open the desired page and select the menu option “Add to Home screen”, from now on, a finger tip is enough to open the web page in the Chrome browser. In the corresponding blog entry, the developers listen to a whole range of technical innovations, such as the support of SCTP for improved data transmission for WebRTC sessions or an interface for speech recognition for apps and web pages.

With Google Chrome 31, the browser highlights the distinction between local and web applications on. After 19 Chrome has already blossomed into a browser everywhere program slowly but steadily developed an all-rounder. And to the detriment of Firefox, IE & Co. Chrome is also quick to expresses: In the benchmark 31 wiedermal Chrome beats all competitors and attracts obsolete even in the SunSpider test on a par with the IE11.

Although the developers promised major improvements in performance and stability, but at the Chrome browser anyway very fast and stable, the user gets it with not much. Thanks vulnerabilities closed the browser has less of a target. Android users use the browser even faster by using swipe gestures.

Ways to Save Money on Tech For Your Small Business

Ways to Save Money on Tech For Your Small Business
Small businesses need to be careful with how they spend money in order to be profitable and to have the money to invest and grow.  To ensure that they are spending wisely and getting the most bang for their buck, small businesses should research purchasing decisions carefully and should be on the lookout for opportunities to maximize the value they receive from each purchase. This is true with any type of acquisitions for the business but especially true when buying tech products.
The Tips
 photo save_money_zps01bdb61f.jpg
To help ensure your business is getting the tech tools you need without breaking the bank, here are some tips for saving money on tech:
  • Shop around for printer ink. For example, if you use Brother printers in your office, you can look around to find Brother HL-2140 toner cartridges at a discount.  By doing your research and comparing prices before you make a purchase, you can get the same high quality printer ink but spend a fraction of the price.
  • Use the technology available to you.  Many businesses have software and hardware that they are not using to full capacity. For example, if your business purchased the Microsoft suite of office software but you are using it only for Word or PowerPoint, consider exploring the email, calendar and database features for use in streamlining communication among employees and staying connected with clients. Here are some tips to get the most out of Office.
  • Take advantage of free and open source software. There are a lot of great free software programs out there that use open source code and that provide close to the same level of functionality that higher priced professional programs do. For example, if your company needs a graphic design program, you could easily spend several hundred dollars buying Photoshop. As an alternative, you could instead use the free software program GIMP that provides many of the same features but that will not cost your company anything at all.
  • Look for discounts and buying opportunities for small businesses. Many office supply stores and online companies want to capture a strong market share in the small business market and thus will offer special discounts, deals or coupons for small businesses to use their equipment or services. You should consider looking for discounts on tech products and services from these online and local stores that cater to small businesses before you make any purchase.
  • Decide if VOIP is right for you. Phone service is one of the biggest tech costs for many companies. Instead of having dedicated phone lines, some companies can get away with using Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) as their primary or secondary telephone service. Your monthly cost of phone service may be much lower if you use an Internet telephone service rather than having dedicated landlines.  You can also look into fax services that operate over the computer rather than having a dedicated fax machine in your office environment that you need to buy toner, paper and ink for and that you need to have connected to a dedicated telephone line.
  • Consider having employees use personal cell phones. It may be less expensive for your company to pay a portion of your employee’s personal cell phone bills and have them use these phones for business use than it is to buy dedicated phones that people can use only for business needs and pay for the full cost of the bill. Employees may be eager to embrace the opportunity of using personal phones with a portion of the bills being paid so they do not have to carry around two separate phones.
  •  Outsource some of your tech services. For most small businesses, it does not make sense to have a full-time IT professional employed by the business. Instead, you can use IT consulting firms or outsource to IT professionals only when you need help. You won’t have to assume the cost of benefits and salary for an IT professional when you only need occasionally assistance.
By keeping these tips in mind, you can make sure that your small business has the technology services and features that you need and you can keep costs to a reasonable level so you can make other important investments in your business.

Microsoft shows-interest in “Project N”

Project N
The Microsoft officials unveiled a new technology for developing Net compile code into native code directly. With the launch of Visual Studio 2013 in New York, Microsoft lifted the veil a little bit of another product currently in development. Known internally as the "Draft N", there is a new technology to compile code directly. The technology is currently experimental, says Microsoft.

Eventually, it should be available to the developer community, even if Microsoft did not say anything more, when the event held in New York on what mode and in what proportions would be distributed tool. According to Microsoft, the "N Project" must allow developed. Net and C # to work better on Windows 8 and Windows RT applications. And, thanks to a new compilation technology. "Draft N” could be distributed publicly in 2014. We do not know, in what form.

Microsoft could keep the technology in-house, and recompile applications directly. This would be consistent; Microsoft has been working around the improvement of the compilation in the cloud for Windows Phone, with MDIL (Machine Dependent Intermediate Language) applications. The solution allowed at its output to help developers migrate their Windows Phone 7 applications to Windows Phone 8.

A job offer giant also recently showed that Microsoft was looking for developers to work on a technology to " compile C # using native C + + compiler." Again, the links are not obvious, and it is unclear how the two come together. Similarly we do not know if the technology is intended for internal use or will be directly distributed to developers.

Survey Reveals Consumers Want Same Content Quality on Smartphones as Laptops

A new survey has revealed that many consumers expect the same content quality on their smartphones and tablet devices as they do on their laptops and PCs.

Vibrant Media, conducting new research into the consumption of content and consumer attitudes to it, found that 72 per cent of the smartphone and tablet users they surveyed wanted the same quality of content across all of their digital devices.

The research also showed that despite the massive popularity of Smartphones and tablets - particularly now that EE 4G services have rolled out in the UK and other operators are now following suit with their own 4G networks – many people still prefer to view certain types of content on their laptop or desktop computers.
Vibrant Media found that 71 per cent of tablet users and 81 per cent of people with smartphones preferred to ‘consume’ content on these more traditional devices. A very small number of people (5.52 per cent) said that they preferred viewing content on their Smartphone, with a similarly small group (8 per cent) saying the same for laptops.

Explaining that publishers need to be optimising their websites so that content can be viewed as easily on the latest mobile phones on EE, for example, as on a laptop or desktop computer, Vibrant Media’s Tom Pepper said:

“Consumers now expect to consume content on their handheld devices just as comfortably as they do on their desktop and laptop computers – but don’t feel that publishers’ sites will match their expectations,”

“A separate, fully optimised mobile site is not an absolute necessity to give consumers an effective mobile experience. Publishers just need to ensure that the editorial of their web sites renders effectively on handheld devices and start replacing desktop-only ad formats with much nimbler ads which work across desktops, laptops, tablets and the small screen format of Smartphones.”

The Five Best Business Servers of 2013

Looking for a business server to pump up your storage capacity? Start with this list of five. You’ll find servers suited to small business use, medium business use and rack servers for expanding business use.

Buffalo Terastation Pro
The Terastation pro is something of an oddity – a small networked server that costs nearly as much as a full blown rack option. For a small to medium sized business that knows it’s on the up, though, the Terastation offers a lot of oomph in a sensibly sized package. It’s got loads of hot swap storage, and can support all sorts of RAID. Reading and writing speeds are outstanding and it has four different file sharing setups. Compatible with Time Machine, and capable of supporting BitTorrent, the Buffalo is a strong contender for mini server of the year.

Netgear ReadyNAS Duo
It looks like an old school stereo, and it works like a dream. The ReadyNAS is able to power six drives, which slot in behind the door grille – making the whole thing a sort of tiny rack storage unit. Supports USB 3.0 and 2.0, and with instant backup from the unit to an external USB disk. The ReadyNAS also helps with its own installation, by employing RAIDar from a network PC. One of the key selling points for the unit is its ability to use open sourced add ons, which have been created by other Netgear users. It’s relatively cheap, too.

HP Proliant G7 Server
The HP Proliant is Hewlett Packard’s standard midrange server. It’s designed to support small to medium sized businesses with a limited knowledge of IT systems – so it’s simple, robust and easy to use. The downside of this configuration is its limited capabilities – but then if you have the storage needs or the knowhow for something with more bells and whistles, you won’t be using the Proliant G7 in the first place.

Dell PowerEdge T410
Dell’s entry level tower server is designed for small businesses that don’t have the room for a dedicated server installation. It’s a storage heavy hitter, which supports six cold swap drive units as standard. You can also add in extra hot swap drive space if you need to. The PowerEdge T410 delivers RAID as well. If you’re buying on a budget, opt for the baseline model, which has an LED diagnostics and monitoring pane. If you want to have a couple more sophisticated touches, you can choose the LCD diagnostic panel instead.

IBM System x3650 M4
IBM’s M4 System server is the latest incarnation of the company’s long standing range of respected business servers. It’s designed to take double CPUs, a bunch of PCI Express add-ins and 24 DDR3 DIMMs. Like most IBM products at this level, the IBM System x3650 M4 is designed to give as much flexibility as possible, and can be scaled up as a business grows thanks to its maximum storage load of 18TB. The power used by the M4, even when running flat out, is still well within acceptable ranges. G2Digital can help you set up your server room: see what we offer here.

Microsoft's November Patch Brings 8 security updates

Microsoft's Patch
The November Patch Tuesday brings Windows users probably eight security updates. They include critical vulnerabilities in Microsoft software. November Patch of Microsoft plugs critical security flaws in Windows operating systems. Microsoft announced eight security updates that primarily take care of gaps in the current Windows operating systems, various Office programs and Internet Explorer.

Three updates from Microsoft the status of "critical". This means that you should absolutely install and then that usually a system reboot is required. For the recently discovered “zero- day vulnerability," spread through the hacker with manipulated video and office files malware, there is still only a "fix -it" - in the context of the November patch, Microsoft excludes the vulnerability apparently not.

Microsoft's Tuesday Patch is usually on the second Tuesday of each month instead - the next Patch Tuesday is thus 10 December 2013. The security updates install automatically with the appropriate pre with active Internet connection. A New Prototype Contact Lens To Stay Connected

Contact lens
Contact lenses with many features are no longer science fiction. A team of South Korean scientists has indeed developed a new prototype equipped with LED lenses that could display information directly and on our cornea. Find out what you may be in the near future.

Contact translucent lenses are not new: many use it on a daily basis to improve their eyesight, or just for aesthetic reasons. But scientific research has to go further with this technology. This is the case of a team of South Korean researchers from the National Institute of Science and Technology of Ulsan (UNIST) comes to design flexible contact lenses and equipped with LEDs.

One of the main issues concerning the transparent electrodes used in products such as mobile phone screens or those of television is that the material does not work if it is bent or simply folded. Hence it could not be used with contact lenses. Yet this successful team led by Jang- Ung Park made a lens composed of graphene layers alternating with layers of with others. Scientists have also shown that ILDED technology (inorganic LED diode) could easily fit on the surface of one of the lenses used in many applications, such as display pictures or videos directly in the eye.

For now, these contact lenses were tested on live rabbits which showed no sign of discomfort or irritation so far. Unfortunately for anyone hoping to have contact lenses that have the same functions as the eyes of the Terminator robot, the team of scientists said it is still far away. That said, we must not lose hope since the technology is constantly changing and this prototype lenses will certainly change a lot in the coming years. Sooner or later you could have the contents of a Smartphone directly in the eye.

Why Should You Consider Going the Outsourcing Route for IT Services?

There’s no question that we are in the era of Big Data. Just think of the many ways we use the web. We go on social networks and post images, status updates, real-time tweets, pictures of our favorite clothes and more on a daily basis. We pay our bills and shop from our Wish Lists. We email on our personalized accounts and save documents onto cloud-based storage spaces. All of these things produce data, and as our production of data proliferates, the need for greater storage capacity as well as network optimization to ensure maximum uptime and security becomes greater.
Unfortunately, though, for a small or medium sized enterprise, this could be very problematic. The amount of money it takes to store all of this data, maintain and update current hardware, cool down that existing hardware, and hire and train new staff could take up a significant portion of the business’s budget. Add on top of that the fact that IT staff has to focus on daily troubleshooting rather than work on Big Picture items that could be more beneficial for the company, and one could see why more and more businesses are choosing to outsource their IT services.
In 2012, businesses spent more than 23% of their IT budget on outsourced services, and this number is sure to go up by the end of 2013. If you’re still on the fence of whether or not you should look into managed IT services, here are some things to keep in mind:
  • Scalability: With managed IT services, you’ll have the infrastructure in place to scale your storage capabilities to contend with whatever demands the future holds.
  • Lower Costs: Maintaining one’s own data center costs money. If it’s not in new hardware, it’s in maintaining current hardware. By outsourcing these things, you can avoid many of these costs, so you can concentrate your resources elsewhere.
  • Security: Security is a major concern for any business as data has become a big business on its own.  Therefore, you need to protect against threats that could compromise your system. Managed hosting services will include the latest anti-virus software to combat any threats. This is especially important if you’re in an industry that demands compliance.
  • Expertise: Unfortunately, it can be tough to stay up to date on all of the technologies that are out there. There is so much out there that hiring your own panel of experts can be overwhelming and seemingly impossible. Because an outsourced data center’s business is IT services, it will have dedicated experts in place who can tailor a solution for your business.
  • Disaster Recovery: With 24x7x365 monitoring, you will stay in business all of the time. If there is a disaster of any kind, like a natural disaster or human error, you will quickly go back online as there will be measures in place to avoid a long term outage.
  • Focus: With outsourced IT services, you can focus on the things that matter and not have to worry about the little IT things that might occur. You’ll have the peace of mind of knowing your network will be up to date and ready to handle any challenges that you might confront in this new way to do business.

Firefox 26 Beta version is ready for testing!

Firefox 26 Beta
With the current beta version of the Mozilla browser Firefox 26, is ready for testing. What's new Firefox users expect here follows Since the Mozilla Firefox 16 team tinkers on the "Click to Play" function. That prevents the browser plug-ins such as Flash, Java or Silver light loads automatically. Only on explicit request of the user can reload the content in question. In Firefox 26, the function will block almost all plug-ins for the first time by default. Because still very common on the net, Flash content is excluded from the rule.

However, only the latest version of the Flash plug-in - with old versions uses click-to -play and prompts you to install the latest version. Do you want Firefox still displays the relevant content; you must select it with a click on that window. Mozilla wants to give users more control over the browser now days. In addition, Firefox handle it one of the largest gateways for malware and resource hog. In terms of safety caused mainly Java in recent past for negative headlines, why Mozilla had originally planned, Java already from Firefox to disable 24 - due to technical problems but Mozilla had to step undo.

So far, Firefox uses the function to block outdated plug -ins. To check if any updates are available for your plug-ins, refer to the plug-in check by Mozilla. The new function not only protects your system, but at the same time preserves the memory as Firefox blocked videos, upload pictures or animations only after your approval. Shumway is also with Mozilla since November 2012 and working on a Flash alternative to open-source basis. In contrast to the current de facto standard for multimedia content on the network Mozilla is focusing its project on open standards like HTML5 and JavaScript.

Unlike Flash, Shumway runs on platforms like Android or iOS, which have to do without Flash. For those interested, test applications are available on a dedicated website. In Firefox 26 Mozilla extended to support various media formats. So the browser is now playing from on PCs with Windows XP MP3 files without having to rely on external programs. Linux users in turn are pleased with the support of the video codec H.264, which requires the installation of the appropriate GStreamer plug-ins. In order not to annoy Windows users with constant update messages, the browser also automatically updated in the future. So users do not run with the risk of getting stuck with an outdated and unsecured browser installation.

From Firefox 26 that works well if the logged user does not have write permissions in the Firefox folder. For this to work, you need to activate the Mozilla Maintenance Service in the settings. In Firefox 26 Mozilla extends the Social API introduced with Firefox 17. The new version allows multiple social services enable parallel so that you receive, for example, status messages or chat messages from different networks. Mozilla has also improved the built - in Firefox password manager. The script now supports -generated password fields. Also, the Android version of Firefox gets some new things donated.

Unlike its predecessors, this time from the list falls not so extensive. Besides the improvement of the password Manger - keeps inroads into the desktop version - get the Firefox app a New Home. Under about: home Find now summarized all important data. By swiping you instantly call up your history, bookmarks and reading list of pages you've marked to read later on. To change the developers have about three months modernized and cleaned up code as Mozilla developer Lucas Rocha writes.

New in Firefox 26, the app manager is the replaces the current simulator “Dashboard “. The tool helps developers build HTML5 -held Web and test apps for Firefox OS. Which innovations, Web developers may still pleased the professionals have compiled separately. Mozilla Firefox 26 will implement the long-standing barrier announced plug-ins. This is to be welcomed, if thereby the development and distribution of open web standards like HTML5 is promoted.

However, the move is not without risk: All alerts and non-functioning websites lead to more frustration rather than awareness. Mozilla risk for the popularity of the service is aware of its own. This demonstrates the fact that the Flash player is excluded from the measure. In addition, developers hone a number of corners, which makes Firefox 26 quite an interesting release.
